Cooking Oils FAQ
Comprehensive answers to common questions about cooking oils, specifications, certifications, and sourcing
Product Selection & Specifications
What's the difference between sunflower, rapeseed, and olive oils?
Sunflower Oil: High in linoleic acid (60%), neutral flavor, good for high-heat cooking and food manufacturing. Affordable and widely available.
Rapeseed (Canola) Oil: Lower saturated fat (7%), neutral taste, excellent stability. Ideal for baking, margarines, and industrial uses.
Olive Oil: Rich flavor, low smoke point, premium pricing. Extra virgin reserved for finishing; refined for cooking. Distinct health benefits.
What does "cold-pressed" mean and why does it matter?
Cold-pressed oils are extracted at temperatures below 30°C, preserving nutrients and flavor. They contain no chemical solvents and maintain higher antioxidant levels. Premium quality but lower yield = higher cost.
What are the main certifications I should look for?
Food Safety: ISO 22000, FSSC 22000
Organic: EU Organic, USDA Organic
Industry: Codex Alimentarius
